Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Stir in the sugar, vanilla, and salt. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Stir in the flour until just combined. If using, fold in the walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake.

Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
